Year 2: Semester 1 (So far)

It's been a while since I last was on here... SO hey again :D

2012 has been a year of mixed emotions, not going to lie it has been the worst year of my life so far. I have had my emotions all over the place at the start of the year, which eventually almost drove me into madness (even though I'm mad anyway) , had the whole year away from Dan until we went on holiday to Spain and my birthday (Which were by far the highlights of this year without a doubt) and also losing a man who had such a influence on my life back in may before he even turned 48 :/. When I turned 18 last year he couldn't drink due to his tumour and it made me sad because when he could drink, BY GOD he could drink! But unfortunately he passed away on the 29th May 2012, he was my uncle and godfather.

RIP Gary Jones (1964-2012)
But even though these aspects have brought me down I am back at uni for my second year! and this semester has been... interesting and fun at the same time. Even though I have been depressed since coming back due to events that happened nearly 6 months ago now (Can't believe it's been that long to be honest) and also having money issues (like every student has) and also being away from Dan when he's going through a hard time with university in Wolverhampton (130 miles away from me) have made me slack a little bit. I just feel less motivated even though this year it definitely counts towards my degree!

However I've had some awesome nights out at the Student Union! Such as Rave Flirt! various BOPS and also our Halloween house party! (Where I was dressed as Sweeney Todd!)  But by far the best night out of semester 1 so far has to be Zombie Prom Flirt! The make up that everyone had was amazing and the way the SU was transformed with a red carpet, silver and black drapes over the dance floor and also the background on the stage was amazing!

My version of Sweeney Todd for Halloween!
Rave Flirt! was the first time Dan came to the SU with us! It was an epic night! They even had an inflatable smiley face ( :) ) over the dance floor towards the back! Also the UV paint we bought was awesome! Dan's face painting skills were amazing! (Just look at my face in the picture below! That's what he did!) and when the UV light was on my face it glowed... And my hair was blonde at the time so that glowed too!

Me and Dan at Rave Flirt!

The lectures this year are without a doubt, much better than last year! This year has been more practical based than theory which is what I wanted from a drama course (more like what you would expect). The best module is by far Popular Performance! We have learnt how to be clowns, tramps, burlesque like (not in the way that you would think with sexy dancing or some shit like that) and also a little bit of stand up (as you ca tell it's a comedy module). And it has also been  made better by amazing lecturers Stephen Hall and Richard Cuming! :)

This weekend just gone (9th-11th November) has been awesome! Spent the weekend in Telford with Dan. We went to Birmingham to the Bullring for the day where we just wondered round the shops and then we stumbled across something amazing... A promotional area where you could try out the latest games console, the Nintendo Wii U. I know there isn't nowhere near as much hype for this console as the Wii had, but I must say this... After having a couple of hours playing on it and telling little kids to go away because me and Dan were having a go on it, it is AMAZING! The concept works unbelievably well! Especially with the game NintendoLand (where there's 12 different mini games which demonstrate the Wii U game pad) and ZombiU (A first person shooter with zombies in it!) Even though the price tag is £300 for the premium pack, I would definitely have one!
The Wii U console and the new Gamepad

Also, on the 11th, Dan surprised me by taking me to watch Skyfall (You know... that new Bond film), and I'm agreeing with most of the reviews about it. It's incredible! The best Bond film ever! The opening was incredible! Daniel Craig as a much more vulnerable James Bond was awesome, but the best character had to be Javier Bardem's Silva (the bad guy) he reminded me a tiny bit of The Joker from The Dark Knight. He was constantly happy but when he got serious... DAMN he got seriously bad! Skyfall is definitely a must see for this autumn/winter!

Anywho that is my 2012 so far... Hopefully soon I will have the latest and best looking Xbox game which came out last tuesday... Halo 4! Seriously cannot wait to play it! And also, I had a call back audition for Sweeney Todd the musical... Got an email just now and I'm so glad that I'm in the show as part of the ensemble! :D I'm really excited for this!

I don't know when my next blog post will be... But this is by far the biggest one I've done (I think you could tell).

In the mean time, I'll speak to you lot soon :)

Almost Holiday Time...

Why hello again :)

Only just logged on and just found out that I've got nearly 100 view... Amazing! Never really expected that to be honest... And it's the same on my SoundCloud page too. I've had 150 listens to my covers that I have on there! ( http://soundcloud.com/ashcrennellmusic :) have a listen) which I didn't expect either! :D.

This month has been  amazing already! I've been to the Warner Bros Studio Tour in London and I've taken lots of pictures! But unfortunately I'm not at home at the moment... I'm in Telford... Because I'm technically on my holiday now... And on Saturday, I'm off to Espanol with my fiance and his family for 3 weeks!!! :D Which should be amazing! <3

Also... I turned 19 only 6 days ago... This time last week I was getting really excited about my birthday (nothing changed there) and I even got an early birthday pressie from Dan... A penguin onesie!! (The picture is on my Twitter ( http://twitter.com/AshCrennell)) Which is unbelieveably comfy! And the hood even has a beak! :D I wore it all day and even scared my nan because she didn't know what the hell I was wearing, bless her heart.

Then on the 20th... One of the highlights of the day was of course what I was looking forward to since 2008... The Dark Knight Rises (I WON'T SPOIL ANYTHING DON'T WORRY IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET!)... It was incredible! The way it ended wrapped up the trilogy in a really good way! Bane was unbelieveably evil! Seriously I was scared of him the entire way through the film (Which was 2 hours and 45 minutes long! (Yep I had a numb ass)) But the film was well worth the wait. And Anne Hathaway as Catwoman... She was brilliant as Selena Kyle! She was very witty, sexy and just damn lethal in some of the scenes!

But the best performance (for me anyway) was from Christian Bale... Not as Batman. But as Bruce Wayne. He did such a good job of showing the character in distress, and him struggling to bring back the Batman after his disapearence 8 years ago. But then again... Towards the end, Bale did give his best performance as Batman in the final showdown between him and Bane.

It was also incredibly well written too! That's what I expect from Christopher Nolan now in his films to be honest... He'll hopefully help Zac Snyder bring justice to Superman in Man Of Steel which comes out next year (Teaser trailer below... This was first shown with The Dark Knight Rises). The plot twists in The Dark Knight Rises were incredible! Especially in the final scenes in the film where all the fighting broke out between Bane's underground army and the Gotham police force!

Anywho... The Dark Knight Rises is a must see of this summer! If you don't then you have missed out... BIG TIME!

Rightio. This'll probably be the last time you'll hear from me for about 3 weeks, until I have returned from Espanol! I just hope the weather is better than what it is at the moment (Meaning even more gorgeous and tanning weather! :D)

Until next time...

Why This Month Will Be Amazing!

As most of you know through twitter (And hopefully just general stuff about myself (or if i don't fucking talk about it enough already) This month is going to be amazing!

Kicking off this month, I had the pleasure of collecting my house keys and had a cheeky bevvy with my housemates and old neighbors from good ol' West Downs! Where Grace thought it would be good to throw up in the garden... And Jaz thought it would be an amazing idea to take photos of us... Sitting on the toilet... Yep, I mean who hasn't done that right?? Anywho... It was a fun night but it was interesting trying to sleep because there were no beds... only mattresses but hey ho, that doesn't matter because we all had fun!

As some of you are aware as well... I like my comic-book films, and there are not one... but TWO coming out this month!! The first one which is out now I believe is The Amazing Spider-Man. Reasons why I want to see it are #1. It's Spider-Man and he's awesome. #2. The 3D effects look incredible apparently. and #3 Andrew Garfield is Peter Parker, who seems very convincing and a lot better than Toby Maguire... and if me and my fiance see this film, we will be drooling because he is hot... just sayin'. The Amazing Spider-Man is a reboot of the franchise so don't get confused if you see it!

Number three, is that I get to see my darling fiance again! It's been too long and I need to see his face and a cuddle from him which I cannot wait for. I get to see him on the 19th... YAY! :D <3

Forth reason why this is an amazing July is the second comic-book film which is out on the 20th... the end of a trilogy with The Dark Knight Rises! Set eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, Batman comes out of retirement to save Gotham City from the terrorist known as Bane. Reasons why I'm looking forward to this: #1 It's Batman. #2 It's the sequel to one of the best superhero films EVER! #3 The cast is amazing. #4 It just looks fucking great... Enough said. See for yourself with the trailer below!

Reason number five why this month will be amazing is because it is my birthday on the 20th... yep you guessed it I'm seeing The Dark Knight Rises hopefully on the day it comes out in cinemas. But also, as some of you are aware I.Fucking. LOVE! Harry Potter!. And my mum and dad were so kind to give me and my fiance tickets to go on my birthday!! Basically... SO EXCITED! I've seen through reviews and word of mouth that it is incredible so... basically... 20th July, hurry up please!

Then it's the Olympics starting on the 27th... To be honest I'm actually looking forward to it! The stadiums and venues that were built at the Olympic Park look incredible and it'll be great for this country to show what we can do! Only a few more days to go now and it seems like only a year ago when they announced that they were going to be held in London. It shall be immense... Well... Not as immense as Beijing... Hopefully Danny Boyle has done something good with the ceremonies... Let's hope that he did...

And finally... Which I am most excited for is a MUCH needed holiday to Spain on the 28th with Dan and his family for 3 weeks! After the year I've had so far I need a break from all this crap happening back at home here in Waterlooville really. It'll mean I can relax fully and also I have never been on holiday with Dan before and also have never met his extended family before so it'll be nice to finally meet them.

That's my July folks... I would love to here what yours are going to be like :D

Until next time

What happened to me in Halo today?

Most people on Twitter have probably seen Halo stuff on there... To put it simply... I love it.

I love the story, the setting, the design... Basically the whole different universe which was created by Bungie back in 2001 with Halo Combat Evolved. However, as much as I do love Halo... compared to most people I'm not very good at it. After I've played tit for a while I get back into the controls and how it works... But when I haven't played it for weeks I can barely even get a kill (Especially when there are a lot of awesome players on Xbox Live). But there is one thing about Halo which I cannot stand, is the fact that when your playing a team game... when people are losing, they quit nearly half way through...

For example... earlier today I was playing a Team SWAT match on Halo: Reach (The most recent Halo game (Apart from the anniversary edition of Halo CE) The match was close, There were 5 points between the two teams... and one headshot could win it. Then all of a sudden, the screen went black and showed the team rosters... meaning somebody else had quit. Then when there was one more point left for both teams, the rest of the people quit except for me and some random player... then because of this my team fucking lost... And people who have lived with me and know me well realise how competitive I can be... Especially at Halo.

I can honestly say that I was very... what's the word?... Agitated by this because I had to wait about 5 minutes for the bloody thing to let me play the game again to get the final point my team needed... only to lose to some random stranger who's rank was lower than mine! Fuming... when I know I shouldn't be... but fuck it I was.

Master Chief is back in Halo 4 :D
To be honest... I'm glad that I've heard news that the quitting and waiting situation had been resolved for Halo 4 (which comes out November 6th) so I can't wait for that and so that I don't have to wait another half an hour to see if me or my opponent can get the last point we need... and hopefully do not lose.

I know this blog post is a tad random... but hey, I'm just a random person overall :P

And at least I do not fail like this... but one day I would love to be on this... they've made over 90 of these videos... over 90 weeks of fails and they are so funny!

Well... Until next time :)

Me and My 2012... So far.

Well... First blog post... this could be messy.

This is me...
Well I'm Ash Crennell (some people just call me Crennell)... 18 going on 19 years old (which I don't want to become because its the year where you feel like nothing happens apparently) and I'm studying at the Uni of Winchester which I love! Just finished my first year where I met some very amazing people and learned all kinds of shit about Drama (The subject I study).

I'm somewhat of a nerd, I like my superhero films (Marvel films are the best! Avengers Assemble was a prime example!) Definitely like my games (Xbox, Wii and 3DS... Don't like PlayStation really, not many good games on their systems) and also my gadgets (Blu Ray, iPod etc). I love Halo on Xbox because I like the whole idea of the universe it's set in and it taught me that religions are crazy (The Covenant and their "great journey" Google it if you don't know it) and of course Mario, which is a character I have grown up with all my life (from the N64 days).

Me and Lauren <3
It's been an interesting year so far, especially with living away from home and meeting awesome new people, like Rikki, Lauren, Jaz and Emily, who are my housemates for the second year, Nem, Dez and Ellen who were neighbors when we lived in West Downs (which by the way is an awesome place to live and if you've applied for Winchester uni then apply to live there! even though I will be majorly jealous...), Grace who also lived in West Downs and at most pre drink sessions would make an appearance and be hilarious and many other awesome people like my course mates... Well... Apart from John... Because he can be very creepy at times.
Dez, Nem, Me and Ellen (Left to Right) <3

Then there's the third and forth years that have just left, like Paul who taught me how to improve my singing voice by being the leader of the singing group Let's Glee (which is also awesome so if you can sing then come along in September!) and also a very talented guy. Also Abby who is amazing and also very hilarious when she is hammered and talented too and then there's Jordan, who is an awesome actor and singer (aka talented).

Even though there have been upsides to this year with uni, finding a job at the garden center which was RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO WEST DOWNS! and also finding a house for next year which was fucking challenging. There have been so many downsides with this year too.

For example last year, my uncle and godfather was diagnosed with a GBM type 4 brain tumour, which ultimately made him terminally ill... He passed away nearly two weeks ago... Thankfully it was peaceful and he was with his wife, my mum (who was his sister) and his friends, the sun was shining and there was a gentle breeze... Perfect I think (Shit... but perfect) because after all he went through, with all the seizures (he had one which lasted for 6 hours a couple of days before he died) and not being able to move, he finally rested in peace and therefore, not suffering anymore.

His name was Gary Michael Jones... and he was only 47 years old and would have been 48 this month (1964-2012).

But... there has been one person who has been very very VERY supportive throughout the entire thing to me... and that is my fiance Daniel Bell (oh by the way I'm gay if you didn't know...) He came down last week to comfort me and my family before the funeral which was last Friday and has been incredible all the way through and if he reads this, this is my way of saying thank you so much for being there for me and I don't know what I would have done if he wasn't there <3. I've been with him for 2 years and 2 months now and I love him with all my heart.
That's Dan on the right (Taken in 2010)

That pretty much sums up who I am and what's been going on so far... I'll update this every so often so until next time...
